Proposed Seating Conversion

"The legal occupancy of Fenway Park as determined by the City of Boston Inspectional Services Department (ISD) allows for standing room for 2,104 patrons. The total capacity is 36,298 and the otherwise usable seating capacity is 34,194, making Fenway the smallest of all the major league ballparks. The conversion of standing room capacity to new structure seating is intended to create new seating areas within the ballpark structure without increasing the allowed capacity. This conversion is proposed to provide seats to those patrons who would otherwise be purchasing standing room tickets and the allowed standing room capacity of the ballpark would be reduced accordingly, resulting in no net increase of capacity. Through this conversion, the total number of seats being proposed for the 2003 season is +900 and the standing room capacity will be reduced by this number."

The following comprise the seating conversion component of the proposed project:

ii. Green Monster Seats

Total proposed new structure seating equals approximately 21,750 square feet.
